Photos: Oklahoma City Highlights

Here are a few highlights from our recent trip to Oklahoma City.

Last weekend we went to Bullnanza, an event compried of 50 of the world's top bull riders, including a few from California. It's not easy asking people attending a bull riding event to talk about politics, but a few were interested in chatting.

The "Fire Rove" group was out in full force on a blazing hot Tuesday afternoon. Many passersby honked and gave them the thumbs up, while others flipped them off and told them to move to Canada.

Earlier this year, the Oklahoma House approved a 10 percent tax on strip clubs, escort services and sex toy and video stores, but it stalled in the Senate. Supporters of the bill say the money generated by the tax would have been used to fund domestic violence and sexual abuse programs and provide tax-breaks to self-employed Oklahomans who buy their own health insurance. Opponents said the tax would legitimize the sex business and decrease state spending on domestic violence and abuse progams.

These are the only strip clubs we saw in Oklahoma City and we spent quite a bit of time driving around. That wasn't the case in Dallas, TX, where the strip club signs line the highway. They must operate in a certain section of the city, but the billboard advertisements are everywhere.

Oklahoma City does have the strip clubs. You were just off of the areas. One is NE 10 and MacArthur (about 5 miles from RoadRunners) and the other area is just NE of the I-240 and I-35 junction. Just to let you know. They have their perversions also.

When people say despite the fact they believe the war was about oil and money, but they support their president anyway, please ask them if they would feel the same if the president was a democrat. I believe in America first, politics are only incidental when they are working for America!
