Where Will You Buy Your Gas This Weekend?
Unlike millions of Americans, I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by excellent transportation and only drive when absolutely necessary. For those of you who have no choice but to drive on a regular basis and are going away for the long weekend, check out this Buyblue.org list of oil company donations to political parties. Only one company, Amerada Hess, gives to Democrats. The rest give to Republicans. Hey, thanks for the $10.7 billion in tax breaks we didn't need.
Citgo - $2,500 to Republicans (click here to read about the Citgo BUY-cott)
Shell - $86,000 to Republcians
BP (Beyond Petroleum - brilliant marketing name) - $209,498 to Republicans
ConocoPhilips - $276,500 to Republicans
Chevron - $383,800 to Republicans
And the winner is...
Exxon Mobil - $779,964 to Republicans
Have a good weekend and drive safely...

I often get boycott messages, but haven't seen this list. I've never heard of Amerada Hess. I've been trying to avoid Exxon, but sometimes it's difficult.

So, who do you believe pays the taxes for oil companies?
chavez is pretty shady as well. reporters without borders does not have a good rating for the freedom of the press in venezuela.
Your energy diet is an inspiration to all of us, Rose. But I can't help wondering when good liberals like fossil fuel mega-consumers Kerry, Gore, Laurie David, Barbara Streisand (six chimneys on her Malibu mega-mansion), etc., might start cutting back on their private jet habits (one flight on a Gulfstream 5 is the equivalent of driving a Hummer for 1 year)...or Ted Kennedy will stop fighting natural wind power.
