From Desperate Poverty to Obscene Wealth

A few minutes after posting that piece about Kenyans starving to death, I stumbled upon this:
The 22 presenters at Sunday night's Oscars each received a $100,000 gift basket, stuffed with luxury items, free car hire and the chance to host a Wolfgang Puck party at home.

Celebrity chef Puck offered his services at the home of the presenters, where he plans to cook up a dinner for 10.

The presenters' perks also included the free hire of a top-of-the-line Cadillac for two weeks, the chance to stay in the Vern Wang-designed suite at Hawaii's exclusive Halekulani Hotel, a $7,000 Victoria's Secret underwear set and a coupon for Lasik surgery.
The multi-millionaires who opted to take the bags home must pay $30K in taxes. My brain is fried.

Good night and good luck.

Ah. So one day a year they'll take a twenty-minute ride in a Prius. The other 364 days of the year it's all stretch limos (for two or three passengers) and private jets.

They're really making a statement. And that statement is, "We're incorrigible self-righteous hypocritical assholes and we just can't stop ourselves. Please, someone-- help us."

Hypocrisy on this scale and this shameless could only happen in one place. To quote the title of the post below...

"Liberal Hollywood"

Yeah, well, corporate CEOs (million dollar shower curtain) aren't any better and most of them are Republicans.

I believe celebs give lots of money to charity, but they do it quietly, like JFK jr. He gave a lot of money to charity, but no one found out about it until he died.

Guess again...the greatest giving to charity comes from the Republican leaning Red States.
